My name is Shel. I’ve been fascinated by sleep and dreams since I was very young. Nightmares leave a lasting impression on a young mind. The surreal imagery and emotional response to something unnaturally frightening give us something to ponder and leave us curious about the subconscious mind.
I started college as a Psychology major but lacked the direction and sense of purpose at that point in my life. I have a natural artistic talent, so after changing majors many times and taking some time away from college to evaluate my life, I finally completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts at 27. I was lined up for a Minor in Psychology, but due to some unfortunate circumstances I had to drop my last psychology class in order to graduate on time. In retrospect, I probably could have taken my last remaining psych course over the summer, but I was ready to be finished with school.
Don’t believe all the articles you read. A Bachelor of Fine Arts doesn’t come with high unemployment rates unless you’re determined to work within your field. The job I have now rarely calls upon the art training portion of my degree, and I’m determined to continue my education outside the classroom. This blog will help me organize and share what I learn.
